RRD:This fool knows nothing of the actual history of politics.
I actually lived through a number of campaigns in which Republicans actually won in the real world,I’m not sure which alternate timeline this woman comes from but negative campaigns do,in fact,work in our universe.

Reagan made no bones about tearing Carter and Mondale to shreds,either directly or through surrogates.

George H.W. Bush had his Willie Horton campaign,which was not something that the “smart people” thought was civilized.

It worked.

George W.Bush had Rove start a whisper campaign about Mccain’s adopted children,and he had no qualms about tearing Kerry to shreds.

Guess who won?

And the Democrats have had a run few negative campaigns here and there(sardonic understatement).

I seem to recall a girl plucking petals from a flower, & then a voice said :”These are the stakes! To make a world in which all of God’s children can live, or to go into the dark. We must either love each other, or we must die”

Fortunately LBJ took us to a world in which we all loved one another,and in which the the milk of human kindness flowed through the Mekong.

There are candidates who have accepted the objectively false claim that negative ads drive people to vote for your opponent.(Yes,people say they don’t like negative ads,but they still work)

Dole was one.
Mccain was another.

Meanwhile while Romney is running a stupidly “civilized” campaign,someone else will be practicing politics “the Chicago Way”,and planning to “punish his enemies and reward his friends”.

RRD:Cain has now been accused of sexual harassment by someone who actually has a name & a face(fn1).The Daily Caller sums up my view of this latest story in a e-mail they sent out(the text does not seem to be available on their website) ..’Okay, so: Bialek was fired by the NRA in 1997 after working there for six whole months. Then she requested a face-to-face meeting with the president of the organization that had just fired her, to ask about finding a new job. A phone call wouldn’t have done it, apparently. And she didn’t tell Cain she was there about a job until dinner. And the whole thing wasn’t her idea in the first place, but her boyfriend’s. And then Cain groped her and told her it was part of the job interview. And she’s coming forward almost 15 years later, after a week of non-stop coverage of unspecified accusations by anonymous accusers, on behalf of women everywhere. After Gloria Allred gets her face time, of course. Hm. Well, sure, could be. The important thing is that an accuser’s story about wrongdoing by a presidential candidate must be taken at face value, with no questions asked. Isn’t that right, Larry Sinclair? “…

RRD:Of course her financial problems and her willingness to recruit Gloria Allred as her attorney only add credence to her story.Just ask Karl Rove(fn2).(I wonder if Rove is connected to this?I must consult my anonymous sources.)Other questions:Why didn’t she file a police report?Why didn’t she file a lawsuit?Oh,but Robert many women who are assaulted don’t report it.True,the fact that she did not file a report does not “disprove” her assertions(and right now that’s all they are),but making a report and filing a lawsuit would have added some credibility to her claim.What’s more,why didn’t she come forward when Cain ran for the Senate? RRD:I know that there will be some Cain supporters who will cling to the fantasy that Cain is innocent,despite the overwhelming evidence of his guilt:3 anonymous accusers,one accuser on record,and one dinner accusation leveled by a Obama supporter.But can there truely be any doubt?!Let us nominate Mitt Romney.A man who will not have accusations of sexual harassment made against him,(at least not until he gets the nomination when women will suddenly accuse him of sexually harrassment,polygamy,Molech worship etc.)
